just a quick photo mash

It feels like life has been super busy lately, and I haven't had any time to blog. In the midst of everything, there certainly has been some good eating, including one of the best dishes I've eaten all year (from a late weeknight supper at The Corson Building).

So here are some quick snaps, just for the memories... working on perfecting our version of paella, which will be its own post if we can pull it off. And unbelievably, Thanksgiving is just around the corner...

  1. What kind of nuts are those pictured? Hazelnuts? I'm a big fan of paella, so looking forward to your post!

  2. Hey Ben,

Yep, those are hazelnuts. About a year and a half ago, we moved into a home in the city of Tukwila, which means "land of hazelnuts" because the valley used to be covered in hazelnut trees. One of those trees is adjacent to our house, and it had the most spectacular hazelnut production this season! Just a bit of shelling and light roasting, and they were amongst the best we've had. So incredibly rich when the oils are that fresh!

I need to get some more good quality saffron, but the paella post is coming soon!
